Introduction
The Anti-Friction Solid-Film Coatings of Modengy company are getting more and more popular. The solid lubrication technology is unique for its combination of being easy to realize and capable to solve the acutest tasks related to friction and wear.
This article presents a new Modengy’s development – a universal technological kit. It enables to create a quality ‘dry’ coating on any metal components without any additional equipment and materials.
Anti-Friction Solid-Film Coatings advantages
The Anti-Friction Solid-Film Coatings (ASC) technology enables to form a thin composite layer (of 10 to 20 µm thickness) firmly bonded to the base on the part surface. This layer is a polymer matrix whose cells are filled with the ultrafine particles of the solid lubricating material.
Due to high compression strength and low shear strength, the coating has low dry friction coefficient (and at the contact pressure values commensurable with the flow limit of the substrate material, the coefficient reaches values of only a few hundredths).
Due to their virtues mentioned above, the Anti-Friction Solid-Film Coatings are demanded very much in valve engineering. In this industry, the coatings solve the issues of higher friction and jam-up occurring in heavy-loaded slow-speed friction units of the pipeline valves.The main advantages of the solid lubricating coatings are high load carrying capacity, and extreme pressure properties.

The Kit contents, and the performances of the coating that you will get
The Kit contains two 520 ML aerosol cans (see Fig.1): MODENGY SPECIAL CLEANER-ACTIVATOR and MODENGY 1002 Anti-Friction Solid-Film Coatings coating.
The Cleaner-Activator is used to clean, degrease, and activate the surface before the coating is applied. Pre-treatment promotes better the anti-friction material’s adhesion to the substrate. The solid lubricating coating suspension is applied onto the part from an aerosol can whose nozzle has the accurately set spray parameters to provide applying of high quality. As a result, a dry lubricating and protecting film based on molybdenum disulfide and bonding substances is formed on the treated surface. The performances of the coating you get are presented in Table 1.
The whole process from work start till the moment when coating gets completely dry takes no longer than 2.5 hours, as a rule.

How to use the Kit (action order)
To get a quality solid lubricating coating with the technological Kit do the following actions.
1. If there are any contaminations on the part surface (such as carbon deposit, residues of the previous coatings, etc.), remove them by any available mechanic or chemical ways.
2. Shake the MODENGY SPECIAL CLEANER-ACTIVATOR aerosol can several times. Spray out its content onto the entire surface area from the distance of 15 to 20 cm (see Fig.2). Wait till the cleaner completely evaporates (for at least 15 minutes). Repeat the same steps again if necessary. One must not touch the prepared surface!
3. Thoroughly stir the content of MODENGY 1002Anti-Friction Solid-Film Coating. For this purpose, keep shaking the aerosol can until you can hear tapping sound of the small metal balls inside it, and after that continue to shake the can for 3 minutes more.
4. Spray out the composition onto the surface to be treated in a uniform thin layer from the distance of 15 to 20 cm (see Fig.2).
5. Wait for 5 to 10 minutes at room temperature till the part gets matte at look and dry by touch.
6. Apply the second coating layer if necessary.
7. Clean the aerosol can nozzle. For this purpose, turn it upside down and direct it outwards from yourself, keep pushing the spraying head button until pure gas starts coming out instead of its content.
8. Keep the part at room temperature for at least 2 hours to get it finally dry.
Before you start applying, it is recommended to work out the technique of the agent spraying onto the draft parts or test plates. In case of failed try, you can remove the non-cured agent with the special cleaner-activator included into the Kit. The typical one coating layer thickness is 8 to 12 µm.
Examples of usage
The coating that you gain by using this Kit has not only good lubricating properties but also high anticorrosive properties. The coating is used for threaded connections of oil-well tubing and boring casing pipes, drilling tools, packers, downhole motor angle adjustors, telescopic booms of lift-and-carry machines.
Due to its high load carrying capacity, the coating reduces friction effectively, prevents scuffing, provides smooth sliding of the surfaces without any jamming or jerks. When the solid lubricating material is used on the lead screws of the shutters and valves, friction losses reduce by 2.4 to 5 times.
The coating eliminates sticking abrasive dust onto the open mechanisms parts which enables to refuse of using greases.

Conclusion
The Modengy Russian company’s team was honored with the Diploma from the government for their contribution to innovative development of Bryansk region in 2017. Bryansk is that very place where the company’s major engineering and production potential is concentrated. It was also here where the unique MODENGY anti-friction solid lubricating coating technology was developed.
Application of this technology enables to significantly extend service lifetime, and improve energy efficiency of the machinery without any constructive changes – but just providing their units with required package of tribotechnical and protective properties.
The universal technological Kit presented in this article enables to gain a quality Anti-Friction Solid-Film Coating of the parts without using any additional materials or tools.
