The online seminar on the theme The Relevance of Using MODENGY Materials for Threaded Fastener took place on the 23rd of July, 2025. The speaker was Dmitry V. Kolomiets, the leading engineer on application MODENGY specialty materials.
He covered a wide range of points related to operating fasteners, causes of their premature failure, difficulties at dismantling them, fasteners destruction as a result of over tightening at mounting, and many other issues.
Various solutions for fasteners lubrication and protection including electroplating coatings, zinc-flake coatings, MODENGY anti-friction solid-film coatings, greases, and pastes were also analyzed in details at that seminar. It was explained what conditions each of them suits for, and the MODENGY coatings and pastes product line was considered in details.
In the course of the meeting, the expert also replied to the interesting questions from the participants such as preparing the fasteners for coating applying: how to figure out tolerances for the coating; how to discover if the processes of lubricating and stopping interfere with each other; how to choose proper methods to protect the fasteners in vacuum; how to select the coating for the fasteners that is resistant to wetting with melts.
Holding this seminar enabled not only to share the existing solutions in the field of extending service lifetime and expanding functionality of the fasteners but also to learn more from communicating with the participants about the issues that accompany operating the fasteners what contributes to more efficient selecting proper materials, and to developing new compounds for the most complicated operations conditions of the threaded connections.
