Cold forming is a process of making the items out of a metal sheet by deforming it under pressure. This method is the most advanced in metalworking and is widely common in automotive engineering. Various car body elements are created by using it including wing, roof, etc.
Advantages of cold forming:
- No need in heating metal, item’s dimensions remain the same (at forging, metal shrinks and distorts)
- Saving material consumption
- High production rate
- Low cost of the finished goods
- Possibility to create part of various sizes
In process of forming, the guiding pillars and bushings are subjected to very high friction, and get worn fast. At operating within aggressive environment, corrosion is forms on the parts.
MODENGY 1005 anti-friction solid-film coating is used in order to extend service lifetime of the equipment . It is made on basis of molybdenum disulfide, and creates a smooth layer that makes sliding easier, and reduces friction of the movable parts.
This product has excellent antiscuffing and anticorrosive properties (more than 720 hours of corrosion protection, according to results of the tests in salt mist, according to ISO 9227 Standard), high load carrying capacity (2,500 MPa), and good adhesion to metal.
The coating polymerizes at heating. After cure, a dry resistant layer is formed on the surface of the bushings and pillars that doesn’t shift from the place it was applied on, and leave no traces on the finished goods as well.
Due to use of MODENGY 1005, wear of the equipment for cold forming reduces significantly, even after numerous duty cycles.
