At the laboratory of the Modengy Engineering Center, the tribotecnical tests of the separating coatings for cold forming have been held.
Several samples designed by the Modengy, LLC, as well as a foreign analogue recommended to be used in process of metals processing took part in the experiment.
The tests were divided into several stages.
To begin with, research of coefficients of static friction and of sliding friction was carried out on the SHD-01 friction machine working on the ‘sphere-to-flat’ contact scheme according to ASTM G99 standard. Slide rate was equal to 0.2 m/s, contact pressure was 1,810 MPa.
Next, antiwear and antiscuff properties of the coatings were researched on the Reichert friction machine with the ‘roller-to-roller’ contact scheme. Slide rate was equal to 0.67 m/s, samples loading was going on in three stages, the maximum load made 1,944 MPa.
All in all, on the basis of anti-friction, antiwear, and antiscuff properties, MODENGY 1020 coating was recommended for cold forming.

This product has demonstrated the following performances: coefficients of static friction – 0.087; average coefficient of sliding friction – 0.074; the coating has withstood the maximal block step, wear track length made 4.7 mm.
According all researched criteria, MODENGY 1020 coating based on synthetic wax has revealed the better results that the foreign analogue has.
It is used as lubricating and separating technological media at cold forming of the austenitic and ferritic steels, aluminum and its alloys, copper and brass; in technological processes of deep drawing, stamping, chasing, branding, bending, and cold extrusion of aluminum and other metals; as a lubricant that doesn’t contaminate metals in pulp and paper, and textile industries; as lubrication for self-tapping screws, cutting blades, guideways, furniture hinges and joints .
