The Modengy’s innovative materials laboratory has declared about creating a fundamentally new general-purpose coating for fastening items that is capable to radically change the approaches to assembly in industry and construction. MODENGY 1021 coating is designed to solve a whole range of issues familiar to each and every manufacturer and consumer of the threaded fasteners.
This development solves several key tasks at once turning a standard bolt, nut or screw into a high-tech item with predetermined and stable properties. Unlike the conventional agents, this new coating is a clear, virtually invisible dry film that radically change the properties of a fastener remaining unnoticeable to an eye. This is a coating that gets integrated into a surficial layer of the part at the microgeometry level due to its capillary and penetrative properties.
The Modengy's chemical engineers have carried out a large-scale work as a part of creating a new coating for the fasteners having a complex of the unique properties that is applied by a simple dipping method. The applying technology requires no complicated equipment nor specific thread tolerance. More than that, it’s a water-based system that’s why the process is absolutely fire-safe, no solvent evaporations are emitted, and no expensive exhaust systems are required, which makes its production safe for the personnel and environment. The barrier layer dries fast till getting tack-free, it is ultrafine: just a few micrometers thick.
Despite the minimal thickness, the coating provides optimal friction coefficient at assembling threaded connections which frees from necessity to apply a grease, it has high anti-scoring and anti-corrosive properties.
One of the difficulties for the engineers and the assemblers is unstable torsion coefficient that requires additional lubricating for the thread right in process of assembling. This is a labor-intensive process that pollute environment, and guarantees no accurate result.
The fasteners treated by a new MODENGY compound is supplied fully ready for assembly having stable and predictable friction coefficient. There is no need for additional lubrication.
“We have removed everything extra: solvents, complicated processes of applying, visual traces. We have retained only reliability and easiness”, the Modengy’s R&D laboratory manager comments. “Our aim is to provide the manufacturers the material that makes their fasteners better, their processes easier, and their costs lower. These ‘out of the box’ fasteners with reference parameters can be used right away. At the same time, we give the customers a kind of flexibility: they can treat only the bolt or only a nut getting their costs optimized according to a certain task.”
The obtained film is resistant to shocks, not subjected to chipping, cracking, or other possible damages at transporting in bulk, due to its high elasticity and plasticity.
Application of the unique water-based coating with guaranteed friction coefficient is promising on the galvanized fasteners to provide stable torsion coefficient, and on the black metal construction fasteners to provide protection against corrosion, and to stabilize friction coefficient, while on the items made of stainless steel – to eliminate jamming and scoring.
Transparency and invisibility of the coating create unique advantage for the fasteners manufacturers as it is impossible to imitate visually this technology nor determine by an eye in which exact way stable friction coefficient is provided what gives the Modengy´s partner companies a significant technological superiority in the market.

The research of wear resistance of the obtained material are already carrying out at the Modengy's laboratory what opens up prospects for applying it far beyond the fasteners, wherever stable friction, corrosion protection, and impeccable appearance with “stealth effect” are critically important.
