At designing equipment, it is necessary to select such constructive materials that have the least tendency to wearing under certain operational conditions, and long service lifetime at exposure to external environmental aspects.
For the purpose of prognosticating operating properties of the oil-and-gas equipment units, estimating efficiency of friction coefficient of the materials, possible wear in the metal-to-polymer friction pair, the designer and manufacturer of the equipment for drilling and completing the wells ordered tribotechnical tests at the Modengy laboratory in Bryansk town.
The tests were held according to ASTM G99 international standard under the load and in the media which were to be in contact with the units having metal-to-polymer friction pairs at their future planned operating, that is process water, and drilling mud.
Based on the obtained data as well as the information presented in the report prepared by the Modengy’s experts, the designer of the equipment within a short while has made his conclusions on compatibility of the materials, and applicability on their combination to produce and operate the drilling equipment under various conditions.
