A Russian manufacturer of plain bearings for pumps, compressors, reactors and other industrial equipment has solved the wear problem of its products by applying the MODENGY 1007 anti-friction solid-film lubricant coating.
This graphite-based material reduces friction on the thrust pads of plain bearings — the working elements that carry axial loads.
The anti-friction coating is required because bearings experience accelerated wear during equipment start-up and shutdown, which ultimately prevents the parts from achieving their full rated service life.
Plain bearings coated with MODENGY 1007 operate efficiently in both oil and water environments.
The thin (20 µm) anti-friction layer reduces friction and the wear rate of the pads during start-up and shutdown, enabling the parts to achieve — and even exceed — the service life rated by the manufacturer.
The material is applied by spraying. Curing the coating requires heating and holding the parts at +200 °C for at least 20 minutes. The coating process integrates readily into the parts manufacturing workflow.
