In process of operating the plunger pairs, higher friction appears between the liner and the piston that causes scuffing forming, service lifetime shortening of the parts.
To solve this issue, and to prevent equipment from failing, this anti-friction solid-film coating having high wear resistance, low friction coefficient, and anti-scuffing properties is applied onto the piston of the plunger pair.
At the Modengy Engineering Center, MODENGY 1006 coating based on molybdenum disulfide and graphite was applied onto the piston of the plunger pair to reduce wear. These items are intended to be operated in an inert gas medium, namely helium.
While fulfilling the given order, the Modengy’s experts deviated from the standard coating thickness of 20 micrometers, and MODENGY 1006 was applied in a layer of 7 micrometers instead. The necessity in reducing thickness was conditioned by small enough gap between the parts.
Despite the small thickness, the coating provides effective protection for the parts against scuffing and wear, improves smoothness of their going.
MODENGY 1006 anti-friction solid-film coating is applied onto prepared surface of the parts by the method of spraying out, and polymerizes at up to +200 °С within 20 minutes.
Use of this product enables to extend service lifetime of the equipment without need in further lubricating the parts as this coating has long lifetime, in some cases it requires no renewal for the entire period of their operating.
