One of the basic components of the gas-distributing mechanisms of the internal-combustion engines is the valve tappets. They are responsible of transmitting axial thrust from the camshaft onto the valves.

The cams of the camshaft are contacting the support part of the tappet. While the cam is impacting the tappet, high loads appears as well as increased friction.

Under conditions of the load and high contact pressures, use of the motor oil becomes not enough to provide long functioning of the parts.

To reduce intensity of parts wearing, the Russian car manufacturer has addressed to the Modengy company. As a part of development works, MODENGY 1006 anti-friction solid-film coating based on molybdenum disulfide and graphite was applied onto supporting surface of the tappets.

This product is applied onto the prepared surfaces of the parts by the method of spraying out, and it polymerizes at heating in a kiln. After it cures, a steady layer of solid lubrication forms on the tappets that minimizes wear of the elements due to reducing friction.

When the development and testing works are over, MODENGY 1006 coating will be considered to be used in mass production of the tappets.
