In process of operating, parts of a piston compressor are subjected to enhanced wear. The pistons that do to-and-fro motions along the cylinder surface get overheated because of heavy friction, scuffing, scratching, and other damages are forming.
To reduce friction of the parts in piston compressors, oil is used. However, the units often function without lubricating film – in moments of starting the apparatus (when the protective layer has not formed yet), at lack of the fluid in case of its leakage or evaporation.
Longterm compressor functioning under conditions of ‘oil starving’ leads to irreversible deformations of the pistons, to forming deep cracks and spalls on the surface.
To prevent negative consequences of oil fluid lack, MODENGY 1007 anti-friction solid-film coating is used.
It reduces friction of the mated elements in the 'oil starving' moments, makes parts running-in easier.
Due to this, pistons overheating, scuffing forming on the surface of the elements is prevented, and service lifetime of the compressors extends.
MODENGY 1007 is made on basis of graphite. It withstands high loads, is compatible with oils, requires no renewing for the entire service term of the pistons.
This product is applied onto prepared pistons surface on the stage of their production, and after that it gets polymerized at heating in a kiln.
Efficiency of using MODENGY coatings has been confirmed by the researches at the Mechanics Issues Institute named after A. Ishlinsky of the Russian Science Academy (RSA). According to the results of the tests with modeling the operational conditions of the cylinder-and-piston group, it has been approved that use of MODENGY coatings reduces friction coefficient, and extends service lifetime of the friction units.
