The lock rings are used for central fixturing of the parts in the holes and on the shafts. They are open-ended rings that can be made of various materials but most frequently of carbon steel.
Such fastening elements are quite widespread in the mechanisms of many industries including motor car construction, machine-tool construction, armature engineering, and others.
In order to prevent corrosive processes from progressing, a protective layer is created on the lock rings. For this purpose, special coatings such as MODENGY 1014 are used.
This coating based on polytetrafluorethylene and molybdenum disulfide is applied onto the pipeline valves lock rings. A thin steady film of the product insulates metal from impacts of the environmental adverse factors, and thus, protects the parts from forming and spreading corrosion attack centers.
According to the results of accelerated tests in neutral salt mist according to ISO 9227 standards carried out at the Modengy testing laboratory, this coating demonstrates high anti-corrosive properties, namely, 672 hours and longer.
Besides corrosion protection, MODENGY 1014 provides easy press fitting of the rings into the grooves, due to reducing friction between the surfaces at mounting.
The coating is applied by the standard painting methods onto dry parts with the following polymerization at heating in a kiln at up to +200 °С for at least 40 minutes. It has high wear resistance, and needs in no renewal from time to time to retain its lubricating and protective properties.
Applying MODENGY 1014 enables to significantly extend service lifetime of the pipeline valves lock rings and the mechanisms where they are used.
