The accelerated tests for the purpose of detecting corrosion resistance of the threaded connections treated with the coatings system based on MODENGY 1032 in the neutral salt mist chamber have completed at the Modengy Engineer Center.

This coatings system consisted of MODENGY 1076 base coating, and MODENGY 1032 top coating based on polytetrafluorethylene has been designed to be used especially on the threaded fasteners for the purpose to protect it against corrosion, to reduce and stabilize torsion coefficient. The Modengy enterprise has enormous experience on creating the protective coatings systems that enable to control torsion coefficient of the fastening items within wide range.

To test this coatings system, a M12x80 bolt of 5.8 strength class with a M12 nut screwed on it was prepared as a sample. Prior applying the coating layers, the bolt and the nut were subjected to all stages of preliminary surface preparation.

The sample treated with MODENGY coatings system has spent inside the chamber 1,001 hours in total. A picture of its current state was taken every 24 hours.

The tests results have proved high efficiency of using this coatings system based on MODENGY 1032 to increase corrosion resistance of a threaded fastener.

Protective properties of this coatings system make at least 900 hours as the very first corrosion attack centers on the bolt were observed only in 952 hours after the start of the tests during the next in time examination of the sample. And on the nut, no areas with corrosion damage at all were detected in process of the entire test time, that is for more than 1,000 hours.

We publish more detailed information about the tests carried out at the Modengy Engineer Center in the Our Tests section.
