The presented pistons are used in aircraft piston engines of light aircrafts, and operate under conditions of high temperatures, significant mechanical loads, cold starting, and possible short-term modes of poor lubrication. Such factors lead to increased friction, and risk of forming scuffing on the mating surfaces.
For the purpose of improving reliability and extending service lifetime of the parts, MODENGY 1003 anti-friction solid-film coating is applied onto the piston skirts. It reduces friction in the most heavy-loaded modes, provides additional protection at cold starting and oil starvation, contributes to decreasing wear and to extending service term of the piston group.
