MODENGY Anti-Friction Solid-Film Coatings as an example of successful realization of the solid lubrication technology

What is the solid lubrication technology about?

The Anti-Friction Solid-Film Coatings (ASCs) of MODENGY trademark realize a special technology the meaning of which is reflected in their name. The coatings are suspensions of the solid lubricating materials evenly distributed in the binding substances and solvents. They are applied onto the surface by methods of painting including spraying out.

A thin composite film that is formed on the covered components after any of these coatings gets cured is a polymer matrix that tightly retains superfine particles of the solid lubricants such as graphite, molybdenum disulfide, tungsten disulfide, polytetrafluorethylene (PTFE), metal oxides, etc.

Coatings’ advantages and application fields

In comparison with conventional liquid or grease-like lubricating materials, the Anti-Friction Solid-Film Coatings have a number of advantages:

  • Wide service temperature range (-210 to +560°С)
  • Efficiency in dusty environments due to forming a dry lubricating layer that abrasive particles do not stick onto
  • Capacity to retain their properties even after a long downtime of the unit
  • Anticorrosive properties that enable some coatings to replace galvanic coatings
  • High extreme pressure properties
  • Load carrying capacity up to 2,500 MPa due to which the solid lubricating materials are not squeezed out of the contact zone
  • Low friction coefficient – from 0.03
  • They provide lubrication and protection for the units for their whole service life period
  • Many of these coatings are capable to operate in chemically aggressive media (such as solutions of acids, alkalis, oil products)
  • It is possible to use them in vacuum and radiation exposure conditions

Due to such advantages complex, MODENGY coatings are demanded in various industries including oil-extracting, automotive, machine building ones (particularly, in valve engineering).

Coatings are used on the lead screws and rods (see Fig.1), in bearings and sliding guideways (see Fig.2), gate valves, pneumatic systems cylinders, gearwheels, and threaded connections.

MODENGY coating are produced completely ready to be used. They are available in 1 KG Cans, and 4.5 KG Pails. Some coatings (1001, 1002, 1003, MODENGY For ICE Partsand a number of the others that are not mentioned in the table above) have an aerosol form of package (210 ML and 520 ML aerosol cans, see Fig.3).

Conclusion

MODENGY coatings are able to operate efficiently even under extreme conditions, and are easy to be used at the same time – they are applied like ordinary paints.

Modengy company offers its help not only to select the coatings but also to treat the experimental or series part batches, it performs all required tribotechnical trials in its own laboratory by using specific machines and test stands.
