The trials of the thrust bearings with MODENGY coatings of various kind applied on them have been completed on the bench-testing unit of a large Russian company providing oil maintenance services.

In order to detect workability of the parts treated with those coatings at up to +150 °С and cyclic loads of 400 to 2,000 kg, an accredited computerized test stand to test hydraulic protections was used.

The first test stage made 8 hours at load of 2,000 kg and shaft rotary speed of 2,910 revolutions per minute. The test stand chamber was filled with oil and heated up to +150 °С.

After that, the trials were switched into cyclic mode at not below +140 °С with axial load changing from 400 up to 2,000 kg, and simultaneous increasing shaft rotary speed, followed by load decreasing down to the initial values and complete stop. The cyclic explorations were repeated during 100 ‘start-stop’ cycles.

In process of the tests, such parameters as power consumption values, temperature, engine rotation frequency, number of test cycles, axial thrust were registering.

The thrust bearing treated with the following coating kinds were exposed to the trials: MODENGY 1006, MODENGY 1066, MODENGY based on PEEK (polyetheretherketone).

The thrust bearings with the listed coatings have successfully passed the trials, no exceeded acceptable end beatings values between the thrust bearing and the base  were registered.

MODENGY coatings have been recommended to be used on the thrust bearings of the oil-and-gas equipment operated at +150 °С and axial load up to 2,000 kg.
